The legislative co-chairs of the ASM would like to give a big THANK YOU to everyone who attended, volunteered, needled, met with legislators and staff, made a financial donation or helped in any way to the success of this event. We are grateful to you.

Tuesday was a terrific day in Boston and many legislators and staffers came and brought enthusiasm for the event and the work we do. We were able to meet with legislators after the event to ask for their support for our bills. We got positive feedback from legislators and staff around both our bills, the acupuncture demonstrations, and turnout.

Legislative aides present were able to ask questions and become more familiar with our bills. Below you will find the next steps you can take to help S1355 & H2270, An Act Relative to the Safer Treatment of Pain and An Act Relative to the Practice of Acupuncture, our bill to increase insurance coverage for Acupuncture as part of the evidence based non-opioid treatment for pain, H1120 & S722 move forward.

We gathered to hear several people speak including Rep. Smitty Pignatelli, NESA Student Amber Davis, our legislative co-chairs Naomi Alson M.Ac., L.Ac. and Dr. Amy Mager DACM, L.Ac., as well as Susan Murphy who spoke about S1446, the Acupuncture detox bill.
Our volunteers provided auricular acupuncture demos to 29 of the legislators and their staff, which was well received and appreciated. Experiencing this powerful medicine is an important way for them to deepen their understanding of our medicine. Smitty spoke of his personal experience with acupuncture, and how he became convinced of how well it works and its cost savings. Our lobbyist, Dan Delaney, taught some of those present on how to lobby for our bills.
